Travel back in time
Go on a virtual journey to historic Seville through an innovative experience that will always stay with you
You don’t really know a place until you know its history. We invite you to travel back in time to the fascinating Seville of bygone days. These are guided tours that will enable you to see what the city’s historical buildings and landmarks were like in various historical eras.
All this can be seen thanks to two devices: with smart glasses on and a touch pad in your hands…get ready to explore the Seville of yesteryear! Mix with people of the era, meet your cicerone (as guides were once known), compare today’s city with that of the past… A truly immersive sensory experience!
And the city of Seville really does have a wealth of amazing historical eras: Hispalis, as the city was known in Roman times; the Ishbiliya of the Islamic period; the Seville of Cervantes; that of the seventeenth-century painter, Bartolomé Esteban Murillo; and of course, the twenty-first Seville. There are eight stops through which to enjoy these ‘Sevilles’.
And we offer two ways to experience this journey with Past View. Past View Metropol provides the opportunity to visit one of the most spectacular contemporary buildings in the city: ‘Las Setas’ [The Mushrooms] of Plaza de la Encarnación, from which you can look out at the skyline of Seville in a completely different way
With Past View Metropol, the viewing platform is transformed into a window onto the past, and a truly unique experience. The visitor can gaze out on Roman Hispalis, explore its streets, its houses and its public spaces. But Past View Metropol is also an informative, dynamic video-guide which will help you explore the city’s most important landmarks and the buildings of Expo ‘92.
Or you could try Past View Sevilla, a virtual recreation through which, accompanied by a historical character, we’ll discover a new vision of the city’s emblematic buildings, while passing by the wayfarers of old. We’ll wander through enchanting squares like Plaza de la Encarnación, Plaza del Salvador and Plaza de San Francisco; we’ll explore the Cathedral and its Giralda tower, the General Archive of the Indies, the city’s alcázares [Islamic-era forts] and the Torre de Oro [Golden Tower]. You’ll see that Seville, a city that’s had its fair share of trials and tribulations, has a lot of stories to share with you…
